A court in Rajshahi has awarded the death penalty to three people of the murder of a woman and her son in the northern district’s Bagmara Upazila.
The speedy trial tribunal delivered its verdict in the 2014 killings on Wednesday (Sept 18), when four others were sentenced to life imprisonment, said Prosecutor Entazul Haque.
Forty-five-year old Aklima Begum and her 25-year-old son Jahid Hassan were murdered with sharp weapons inside their home at a village in Bagmara Upazila on the night of Nov 24, 2014 following a dispute over land, he said.
Convicts Abul Hossain, Habibur Rahman Habib and Abdur Razzaque will have to walk to the gallows while Abullah Al Kafi, Ruhul Amin, Rustom Ali and Monirul Islam will have to spend their life behind the bars.
