16 missing as fishing trawler sinks in Bay

Representational imageAs many as 16 fishermen have gone missing as a trawler sank in the Bay of Bengal during a storm.
The FB Zakaria with 17 people on board capsized early Saturday (Aug 3) in East Lalbouya area of the Bay, 120 off Barguna's Pathargha, president of Barguna District Fisheries Trawler Owners Association Golam Mostafa Chowdhury Bangla Tribune.
Three of the fishermen have been identified as Iqbal Hossain, and Anwar Hossain Mahmud, from Noakhali, while details of the rest including the owners were unavailable.
The missing was owned by one Anwar Hossain from Barguna's Patharghata.
Quoting the lone survivor, one Mahmud, Chowdhury said that the incident come to light when Mahmud was rescued by another trawler, FB Arif after he remained floating for several hours.
Nether any fisherman nor the trawler has been traced yet.
A rescue trawler has left for tracing the missing people, said Chowdhury.
