At least eight people have died and 50 injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Thakurgaon.

The accident occurred on Friday (Aug 8) morning.

According to our Thakurgaon correspondent, a Dipjol Paribahan coach coming from Dhaka collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction near Balaka garden on Dhaka-Thakurgaon highway.

However, a motorcycle and a three-wheeler carrying passengers also got crushed between the buses. Five people died on the spot, Fire Service personnel Mizan said.

Hospital sources and witnesses said at least 50 people were injured. The number of casualties and injured might increase, Fire Service sources said.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be disclosed.
