Six workers have died after falling into a septic tank in Joypurhat’s Akkelpur Upazila.
The incident was reported around 9am on Wednesday (Jul 31) from Jaffarpur village in the upazila’s Sonamukhi Union, said police.
The deceased have been identified as Pritom Chandra Das, 20, Bhuttu Chandra Das, 40, Shahin Hossain, 35, Mukul Hossain, 35, Sajal Hossain 15 and Shihab Hossain, 18.
“The workers fall into the under construction site while they were removing the wooden plucks used in cementing the septic tank,” said Akkelpur police OC Kiron Kumar Roy.
“Being informed, firefighters rescued the victims and among them three died on the spot and rest are on the way to the hospital,” said OC Roy.
