Customs authorities at the Sylhet airport have seized 22 gold bars on Saturday from a passenger coming from Dubai.
The seized gold’s estimated market value is around Tk 15 million, according to Hafizur Rahman, manager of Sylhet Osmani International Airport.
The gold bars were concealed inside the shoes of 36-year-old Sadikur Rahman Samu, who landed in Sylhet on Biman Bangladesh flight, he said.
“Acting on a tip off, customs officials held Samu. The gold bars, weighing around two and a half kg were found in his shoes,” added the airport official.
