Death toll rises to 11 in Sirajganj train-car crash

The death toll from Siranganj train and microbus crash has increased to 11.
“65-year-old Bhashan Sheikh died while being taken to a hospital late on Monday (Jul 15),” said Additional District Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain.
“The bodies were handed over to the families at Sirajganj 250-Bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital early Tuesday (Jul 16),” he said.
A total of 11 people, including a newlywed couple, died in the crash between Dhaka-bound train Padma Express and a microbus at a level crossing in Ullapara upazila on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Rajan Sheikh, 35, Alif Hossain, 11, Sumaiya Khatun, 21, Mamta Khatun, 35, Md Shariful Islam Sharif, 32, Ahad Ali, 19, Abdus Samad 45, Shakil Ahmed 19, Nur A Alam Shadhin, 40, Khokon Sheikh, 22, Bhasan Sheikh, 65.
A six-member probe body led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Firoz Mahmud was formed on Tuesday.
The probe committee has been ordered to submit their report within the next six working days.
Earlier, another four-member probe committee was formed by Pakshi Railway Department on Monday night to investigate the matter.
