A court in Chattogram (Chittagong) has remanded the two murder suspects, who were arrested in India and deported earlier this week.
Police have been given three days each to grill Mohiuddin Tushar, 30, and Ekhlasur Rahman, 22, who stands accused of murdering Abu Zafar Anik in the port city, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Nirmalendu Biskah Chakrabarty.
“The investigation officers pleaded for seven days in custody, but the court granted three days,” he told Bangla Tribune on Wednesday.
The two suspects were arrested from Kolkata’s Free School Street late on Friday and handed over to Bangladesh police at the Benapole border on Monday.
Anik was stabbed on Jun 17 at the port city’s Chotteshwari Road by a group of men following a dispute.
He was rushed to the medical college hospital, where the doctors declared the 26-year-old dead.
Anik’s father started a case against 12 people, where he named Tushar as the prime suspect as well Ekhlas as a suspect.
With the latest arrests, a total of four suspects in the murder are now behind bars. Brothers, Jobayed Ahmed Shovon and Jonayed Ahmed Emon were arrested late on Monday from Cumilla.
