Indian police have detained two suspects in the murder of MR Anik in Chattogram and deported them to Bangladesh.
Suspects Mohiuddin Tushar, 30, and Ekhlasur Rahman, 22, were arrested from Kolkata’s Free School Street late on Friday, said Chattogram Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner SM Mostain Hossain.
“They had gone to India soon after a case was started over Anik’s murder. They were arrested through a special force of the Kolkata police after their visas were cancelled and the handed over to Bangladesh police at the Benapole border on Monday,” he told Bangla Tribune.
Details would be revealed at a news conference on Tuesday, added the senior police officer.
Anik was stabbed on Jun 17 at the port city’s Chotteshwari Road by a group of men following a dispute.
He was rushed to the medical college hospital, where the doctors declared the 26-year-old dead. Anik’s father started a case against 12 people, where he named Tushar as the prime suspect as well Ekhlas as a suspect.
