Dulal Sharif, father of murdered Rifat Sharif, has asked for justice. On Wednesday (Jun 27, at 10:30 am in the morning, Rifat Sharif was gravely injured when two young men hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons.
Rifat was admitted to the Barguna Hospital and from there to the Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries
Rifat’s father said: “When I got a telephone call from a relative of Rifat’s wife, I quickly went to the hospital and saw my son being taken to the Barishal Medical College.”
Later, people told me that the killing was premeditated.
“My son won’t return but I want justice for the killing of my son.”
Rifat’s father accused a known drug dealer called Noyon, who had spent a period in jail for possessing heroin and phensidyl, for the killing.
Rifat left home that morning with his newly married wife Ayesha Akhter Minni to take her to college. When they came near Barguna College, the miscreants attacked him. Rifat’s wife tried her best to stop the assailants.
Rifat also tried to protect himself with a plastic bag in his hand which was not enough.
The video of the attack, which has gone viral, shows Rifat’s wife shouting for help and trying to prevent the killers from hacking Rifat.
However when they miscreants left, Rifat was already critically injured. Later, he died of his wounds at the Barishal Hospital.
