Female set on fire in Narsingdi

Unidentified miscreants have set a female on fire in Narsingdi.

The incident was reported around 8.30pm on Thursday (Jun 13) from Birpur area of Narsingdi, said police.

The 22-year-old victim passed her HSC examination last year and yet to enroll in university.

According to the victim’s family, she was on her way home from a nearby store when two miscreants grabbed her and took her to a nearby secluded location.

Later, they set the girl on fire after pouring kerosene over her body.

Hearing her screams, local people rushed in and took her to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital. She was then moved to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated.

“We have already spoken to the victim’s family and inspected the crime scene. It will only be possible to determine the motive behind the crime and identify the others involved in it after an investigation,” said Narsingdi city outpost Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman.
