Natore BCL leader hammered to death

Sohel RanaA leader of the ruling Awami League’s student wing, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), have been hammered to death in Natore.
The incident was reported around 6pm on Sunday (Jun 2) in the district’s Baraigram Upazila, said police.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Shohel Rana, served as a vice-president of BCL’s Banpara Municipal unit and a member of the district’s BCL committee, said Advocate Malek Shiekh, organizing secretary of district Awami League.
“Over an Eidgah preparation at Mohishvanga village, a dispute erupted between Rana and two other local youth, Rajib and Sagor. Following the dispute, Shohel was hammered indiscriminately by Sagor and his associates around 6pm on Sunday at Rafid Dealer Insection area,” said Baraigram police OC Dilip Kumar Das citing locals.
“Locals rescued Shohel and rushed to a local clinic. He later succumbed to his injuries around 9pm on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital,” said OC Das.
“The body has been sent to Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy,” he said.
“Victim’s family members will lodge a case over the incident,” added the OC.
