Students of the local Jami Islamia Madrasa took out a procession in the town on Saturday (Apr 13), which ended in a rally in front of the Brahmanbaria Press Club.
Qawmi madrasa students in Brahmanbaria have announced to resist Bangla New Year celebrations, especially the traditional procession ‘Mangal Shobhajatra’, in the district town.Describing Pahela Baishakh as ‘anti-Islamic’, demonstrators announced to resist all kinds of celebrations, especially the procession.
It was announced that students will take to the streets soon after the early morning prayers on Sunday (Apr 14) to resist the ‘Mangal Shobhajatra’ procession.
