Bhutan Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering will be celebrating the first day of the Bangla New Year, Pohela Boishakh at his alma mater in Mymensingh.
The Bhutanese premier, who is a three-day official visit to Bangladesh is an alumni of Mymensingh Medical College’s 28th batch.
He received his MBBS from there in 1998 and then his FCPS in surgery after which he returned to his own country to enter politics.
The campus has been colourfully decorated and the local administration has beefed up security for his arrival.
The helicopter carrying Tshering will reach Bangladesh Agricultural University campus on Sunday (Apr 14) morning.
He will then take part in the celebrations of the new year at his alma mater and return to Dhaka after lunch.
The students, teachers and employees of the college are very excited at the arrival of Tshering who is expected to be accompanied by his wife, said the Anwar Hossain, a professor.
The premier will also take part in a view exchange meeting at the medical college auditorium in addition to visiting the campus and meeting up with his batch mates.
