The Maitree Express, which runs between Dhaka and the Indian city of Kolkata, has hit a pick-up truck in Sirajganj killing three people.
The incident was reported from the district’s Kamarkandha Upazila on Saturday (Apr 13), said officials.
Around 1.30pm, the Dhaka-bound train rammed a cow-laden pick-up truck at a level crossing near the Ullapara cattle market, Sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam of the Kamarkhan police station said.The driver was killed on the spot while two others in the vehicle were rushed to the state-run hospital in the Upazila town, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Suzan Ali Surja, who was behind the wheels, Rafiqul Islam and Nehar Uddin, who were in their mid-30s.
