Two people have been arrested over allegations of kidnapping and gang-raping a woman in Noakhali’s Sonaimuri Upazila.
Police arrested Aminul Islam Montu and Nizam Uddin on Thursday (Apr11), said Sonaimuri OC Abdus Samad.
“My daughter was kidnapped and gang-raped on Wednesday (Apr 10) when she was on her way to her grandfather’s house,” said the victim’s father.
“Police rescued her from the banks of a pond in an unconscious state after a man named Emran called them” he added.
The father said that his daughter, who was a single mother of two, had multiple assault wounds on her body.
OC Samad said that the victim was admitted to Noakhali General Hospital after being rescued.
“The victim’s father lodged a rape case with Sonaimuri police,” said Samad.
He added that Aminul and Nizam were two of the accused that have been arrested and the police were on the lookout for the other alleged perpetrators.
