Alleged drug dealer Nurul Huda`s lavish home in Cox`s Bazar`s Teknaf.Amid the countywide drive against drug, so far, four people have been killed in Cox’s Bazar with top drugs dealer still out of law enforcement’s reach, locals alleged.
Previously, drug dealers who were fugitive to police moved openly but they went undercover since beginning the crackdown, locals said.
The home ministry enlisted top yaba traders that include family members of former and incumbent lawmakers, local representatives, political leaders and corrupted police officials.
Sources said that Haji Saiful Kari and Abdur Shakur, locally known as “Yaba Don’ fled the country after the operations. They were last seen in the area two week ago.
Locals said that Mujib and Syed Hossain have amassed fortune overnight through Yaba trading. Law enforcement did nothing despite these yaba godfathers had long been roaming around in the area.
Calming Yaba godfathers leaving the area for long, Teknaf police officer-in-charge Ranjit Kumar told, “If they come for a day, they will be arrested as police are on alert.”
Echoing Kumar, RAB Company Commander Major Ruhul Amin said “We are trying round-the-clock.”
District Additional Superintendent of Police Afrujul Haque Tutul said, “Not only for now, police conducts drive against Yaba traders regularly. Police has raided several times to arrest top Yaba traders.”
“They managed to escape every time, but they will be brought under legal action during the ongoing operation,” Tutul said.
