Drug dealing allegation against Roumari OC

Officer-in-Charge Md Zahangir Alam Roumari Police Station.Lawmaker of Kurigram-4 constituency Md Ruhul Amin alleged that Roumari police station Officer-in-Charge Md Zahangir Alam is involved in drug dealing.
In a letter sent to the Home Minister last week, he wrote, the OC himself is indulged in Yaba tablets and involved in drug dealing.
The letter alleges that since his joining to Roumari thana on August 5 last, OC Zahangir Alam involved in various irregularities including filing fake narcotics cases, burial of the body of unnatural death, taking bribes and extorting money from relatives after detention on fake charges.
On May 23, people of Roumari along with Upazila chairman and six UP chairmen and local AWAMI League leaders, being agitated over his one after another misdoing, submitted a complaint to the Inspector General of Police.
Lawmaker Kurigram-4 constituency Md Ruhul Amin alleged that Roumari police station Officer-in-Charge Md Zahangir Alam is involved in drug dealing.Since the submission of the complaint, the OC is threatening the local public representatives to file fake cases, besides using abusive language.
Contacted, lawmaker Ruhul Amin told Bangla Tribune: “Local people are in panic fearing the OC. I heard that he himself is involved in drug dealing.”
“We take part in politics for the betterment of common people. The common people are now in a panic. Police members themselves take tablets (Yaba) to people’s homes,” alleged the public representative.
“It was decided in a meeting on law and order situation of the Upazila that police would take local influential persons with them when they go to people’s homes to search. But police is not abiding by the resolution,” he added.
Observing that police detain common people for nothing, only to allege that Yaba has been recovered, the member of Parliament said, “It cannot be tolerated that OC Zahangir would harass the common people in the name of the anti-drug drive.”
