A court in Kishoreganj has awarded the death penalty to a man for the murder and rape of a five-year-old.
On Wednesday (May 30), the district’s Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 has delivered the verdict with convict Shah Alam on the dock.
According to the prosecution, on the night of May 15, 2014, convict Shah Alam kidnapped victim Afroja from her home before raping and murdering the girl.
Relatives found the girl’s body the next day, when the father Nayan Mia started a case against Alam, who was arrested on May 17.
Seven months later, police submitted its report to the court pressing charges against Alam. After a four-year-long trial, the court found the suspect guilty on Wednesday.
