Five ‘JMB militants’ held in Rajshahi, C’nawabganjThe Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained five suspected militants of banned Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj.

The arrests were made during raids at Rajshahi’s Godagari Upazila and Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila late on Tuesday, said Rajshahi-based RAB 5 chief Mahabubul Alam.

Five mobile phones, SIM cards, memory cards, two NIDs, a passport, a computer hard drive and jihadi literatures were seized in the raid.

Five mobile phones, SIM cards, memory cards, two NIDs, a passport, a computer hard drive and jihadi literatures were seized in the raid.The suspected terrorists have been identified as Khairul Islam, 48, Selim Reza, 26, Ziaul Haque alias Akbor Ali, 39, Noashad Ali, 50 and Shakil Ahmed, 35.

Alam said, “They have been shown arrested in a previous case and produced in court, which has remanded them for three days.”

“Acting on tiff off, the RAB conducted a raid in Godagari Upazila’s Fazilpur village and held Khairul Islam and Selim Reza. Later, three other suspects were detained from their homes in Chapainawabganj,” the RAB official added.
