A steel mill worker was killed after being burned by liquefied metal at Narayanganj’s Shonargaon Upazila.
The incident was reported from the Rahim Steel Mills Ltd located at the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Kanchpur area on Saturday (Mar 9), said Shonargaon police Sub Inspector Salimul Haque.
The worker has been identified as Suroj Mia, a crane driver of the mill.
“The ladle of the crane accidentally leaked on Saturday morning. Suroj Mia was burned and killed on spot when the liquefied iron fell on him,” said the mill’s chief operating officer.
He added that two of the victim’s brothers who also worked at the mill, was there when the accident happened.
“No one other that Suroj Mia has been harmed. His family will be given compensation from the company,” he said.
Meanwhile, SI Haque said that the victim’s body has been kept at the station and necessary action will be taken in the matter.
