A rape suspect has been killed in Chattogram in what the police described as a shootout.

The incident was reported early Tuesday (Jan 29), said police.

The victim has been identified as Shahabuddin.

“Shahabuddin was killed in a shootout with police early Tuesday. Another rape suspect, Shaymol De, was also held during a drive,” said Chattogram police OC Mohammad Mohsin.

“Three policemen were also injured during the shootout,” added OC Mohsin.

“Details will be briefed at 12pm at Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram,” he added.

OC Mohammad Mohsin said that Shahabuddin was an accused in a rape case filed with Kotwali police.
