Import of onion and chili pepper from Dinajpur's Hili land port are off due to the breaking of a bridge inside India. But the import of rice and other products by this port is normal.
Harun Ur Rashid, President of Hili Land Port Import group told the Bangla Tribune, on August 16, a bridge of the main road in Gangarampur of India broke due to flood. For this reason, product carrying trucks are unable to come towards Hili. As a result, import of onion and raw chili has been stopped by the Hili land port since 17th August. However, some trucks of rice and other products are obstructed in the Hilli parking lot of the Indian part. Only these obstructed products are being imported now. Currently, onion and other goods are being imported by Sona Masjid and other Ports. The Indian businessmen informed us that Indian Army is repairing the damaged bridge of Gangarampur of India. After the end of the repair work, the bridge will be opened for transport from Sunday or Monday. If the bridge is opened, then export and import business of raw chili and other products will become normal.
