Age of the bridegroom is 54 and the bride is 13 years old. When every arrangement of the marriage is completed, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer came and stopped it.

This happened on Friday (August 18th) in the Dantbhanga union of Rowmari Upazila. Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-charge of Rowmari Police Station has ensured this.

Local source informed that the marriage of the daughter Babul, a day labor of Dantbhanga village was arranged with Abdul Salam of Sreebardi Upazila of the Sherpur district. Babul’s Daughter reads in class seven and the age of Abdul Salam is more than 50.

The officials of the Upazila administration arrived before the marriage could take place. Feeling their presence, the people with the groom escaped.

The auto-rickshaw carrying the passenger of the Groom’s side was seized and kept in custody of Rowmari Police Station.

Fauzul Kabir, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (in-charge) of Rowmari said ‘ this Child marriage has been prevented with the assistance of Rowmari Police Station on the basis of secret information and the girl's father has been warned about the of evil consequences of child marriage.’
