ACC sues six for Tk 6m embezzlement

Cox`s BazarThe Anti-Corruption Commission has sued six people for embezzling over Tk 6 million in the name of purchasing a generator for the Cox’s Bazar airport.
ACC Regional Deputy Director for Chattogram filed a case with Cox’s Bazar Sadar police on Sunday (Jan 6).
The accused are- Mohammad Shahbuddin, owner of contracting company Messrs Dhaka International Traders, Bhabesh Chandra Sarker, former assistant director (Kurmitola), Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB), Shahidul Islam Mandal, former assistant director (manager office), Cox’s Bazar airport, Md Hassan Jahir , former manager of the airport, CAAB Executive Engineer (Kurmitola) Mihir Chaand De and Supervising Engineer Md Shahidul Afroze.
Cox’s Bazar Sadar police OC Khandaker Farid Uddin confirmed that ACC will take further steps after probing the matter.
In the 2014-15 fiscal year, Dhaka International was given the tender of a 300 Kva generator for the domestic airport in Cox’s Bazar.
The company’s owner Shahbuddin and former airport manager Jahir allegedly embezzled over Tk 6 million according to investigations.
