Road crash leaves three dead in Sirajganj

Representational imageA collision between a truck and pickup-van in Sirajganj has left three dead including a father and his son.
The incident was reported during early hours (around 3:15am) on Saturday (Jan 5) at the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highways.
The deceased have been identified as Idris Ali, 60, his son Monzu Hossain, 28, and the pickup-van’s driver Raju Hossain, 27. All three victims hailed from Tangail. 
Bangabandhu Bridge West police Sub Inspector Mahbubur Rahman said, “The pickup van, carrying jujubes, was en route to Tangail with a few passengers on board. The driver lost control near Jhaoil over-bridge and hit a stone-laden truck from behind leaving the victims dead on the spot.”
Rescue workers from the fire service rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies before sending the mortal remains of the victim to Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj, he added.
