An activist of ruling Awami League's youth front Jubo League has been allegedly hacked to death by the supports of BNP and its ally Jammat-e-Islami in Chattogram.
The killing was reported from Gurolkhanin area of the district’s Patiya Upazila at 9pm on Saturday (Dec 29), Chattogram Additional SP Afruzul Haque Tutul told Bangla Tribune.
The deceased was identified as Dil Mohammad, 35, son of Yusuf Commander of the upazila.
Tutul said, “A group of BNP-Jamaat activists hacked Dil Mohammad (with sharp weapons) leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital where doctor declared him dead.”
A group of 5/4 people led by BNP activist Rafiq carried out the attack while Dil Mohammad along with other was returning from a polls programme, according to the victim's relative.
When asked, BNP candidate for Chattogram 12 (Patiya) constituency Enamul Haque, however, denied the allegation.
“Dil Mohammad was killed by the rivals when two groups of Juba League lacked into a clash over sharing money, which they received from Awami League candidate,” Haque told Bangla Tribune.
