Complaints have been filed with police in Rangamati over the killings of six people in two days.
Superintendent of Police Alamgir Kabir said that two complaints against 118 people were filed on Wednesday.
“But they are yet to be registered,” he added.
On Thursday, Naniarchar Upazila Chairman Shaktiman Chakma was shot dead. Unidentified assailants gunned down the Jana Samhati Samiti (MN Larma faction) leader as he was about to enter the Upazila council offices.
The next day, five people were shot and killed and eight others injured in an ambush on a car carrying members of the United People’s Democratic Front (Ganatantrik) and Jubo Samiti (MN Larma) to Shaktiman’s funeral.
The complaint filed by JSS (MN Larma) names 46 people. “Rupom Chakma who was injured in the attack on Shaktiman filed the complaint with the Naniarchar police,” said the group’s Assistant Secretary Prashant Chakma.
Rupom, the aide to Shaktiman, has been treated of gunshot wounds sustained during Thursday’s attack in front of the Naniarchar Upazila Council offices.
The complaint by UPDF (Ganatantrik), a breakaway faction of the UPDF, named 72 people, said its spokesperson Litton Chakma.
“On behalf of the party, Archin Chakma filed the complaint against UPDF leader Prasit Kheesha, General Secretary Rabi Shankar Chakma and 70 others,” he said.
