The people of the country will never accept the BNP in the upcoming national election slated for Dec 30, says Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif.
“BNP is well established as a party of terrorism and corruption in home and abroad. So, people of the country would never accept the party. They as usual would boycott the party in the upcoming general polls,” he told a view exchange meeting with local AL leaders at his Kushtia residence on Thursday (No 29).
Referring to terrorism and arson attacks carried out by the BNP, Hanif said, “BNP has long been isolated from the people for its terrorist activities. They are doing politics with Begum Khaleda Zia as the party has no right to make any appeal before the people”.
The AL leader He made the remarks in reply to the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s allegation of delivering verdict hurriedly against detained Begum Khaleda Zia in a false case.
“We have said many times the corruption case was filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia during the tenure of the caretaker government and the court gave verdict against him on the basis of evidence,” he continued.
Regarding independent candidates of his party in the upcoming national polls, he also said, “Organisational action will be taken against independent candidates.”
