Five people were killed and at least 20 more were injured in the Sirajganj on Thursday (Nov 29) in a road crash involving two buses and a truck.
The incident was reported around 11.30am on the highway near the district town, said police.
The victims are yet to be identified, said Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station OC Syed Shahid Alam.
“A Bogura-bound ‘Alif Paribahan’ bus hit a bus from behind as its driver lost control over steering while a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction crashed into the two buses around 11:30 am, leaving five people dead on the spot and at least 20 others injured,” he told Bangla Tribune.
Immediately after the news of the accident, fire fighters and police rushed to the scene. With the help of the locals, they started a rescue operation and sent the victims to different hospitals.
Sirajganj Sadar Hospital's Medical Officer Faridul Islam said that several of the victims were in critical condition.
