With only weeks left for the 11th Parliamentary Election, Jatiya Oikya Front’s and BNP’s demand to reconstitute Election Commission aims at foiling the polls, says Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
Quader spoke to the media after filling the nomination paper to contest in the Dec 30 polls from the Noakhali-5 (Companyganj and Kabirhat upazilas) constituency.
Quader said, “Crying of BNP secretary general at the party’s nomination letter handing over ceremony proves it become isolated from people and their popularity stands at zero.”
Quader, who is the road transport minister, said, “AL is witnessing a sweeping popularity across the country.
“Different party leaders, who are isolated from people, will gain nothing by joining the BNP,” he said.
Referring to a showdown led by BNP’s Moudud Ahmed, Quader said, “He (Moudud) has violated the electoral code of conducts... I used my personal car and enjoyed no government facilities (as a minister).”
“Does it not ensure level playing field,” Quader asked.
