Two ‘drug-peddlers’ killed in ‘shootout’ in Cox's Bazar

Two ‘drug-peddlers’ have been killed in what the police has described as a shootout in Teknaf.

Bullet-hit bodies of the suspected drug-dealers were recovered by sea-side in the Cox’s Bazar upazila on Friday (Nov 2).

They have been identified as Saddam Hossain, 26 and Saddam Hossain, 28.  

Four police officers were injured with bullet wounds during the shootout, said Teknaf Police OC Pradip Kumar Das.

They are being treated at the Teknaf Health Complex, added Das.

He said, “Police were informed that a gunfight was in progress between two groups of drug-dealers. They started shooting sensing the presence of police when they rushed to the scene at which police officers retaliated.”  

At the end of the shootout bodies of the two drug-dealers were found, he said before adding that three rifles, 30 rounds of bullet and 20,000 pieces of yaba tablets were also recovered from the scene.

The injured police personnel are— SI Amir Hossain, Constable Mohiuddin, Constable Mehedi Hasan, Constable Abdus Shukkur.
