A 41-year-old man in the southern district of Barishal is taking the Junior School Certificate (JSC) exams this year.
Haroshit Barai, who was born in 1977, is an eighth-grader of Computer and Information Technology at the Rajihar Vocational Training Centre in the district’s Agailjhara Upazila.
He is one of the over two and half million students, who are taking part in the exam which started from Thursday (Nov 1).Haroshit told Bangla Tribune he could not go to the school during his childhood as he had to run his family.
Haroshit enrolled at the school when he learned that he needs to clear at least the eighth grade to get a job.
“Age is not a matter for education,” he said.
Local Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bipul Chandra Das appreciated Haroshit’s effort.
“He has set an example and showed that it’s never too late to start,” said Bipul.
More 2.5 million students from nearly 30,000 educational institutions are taking the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and equivalent exams this year.
