Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged drug trader with 8,000 pieces of smuggled Yaba tablets from Syedpur upazila town in Nilphamari on Tuesday afternoon, a press release said.
The arrestee has been identified as Babu Roy, 40.
The elite force conducted a raid at a place on the Shaheed Dr Zikrul Haque Road in Syedpur town, seized the huge quantity of Yaba tablets packed in a cartoon generally used for cosmetics and arrested Babu red-handed.
The market price of the seized Yaba tablets is around Tk 4 million.
“During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted his involvement with trading big consignments of Yaba tablets in the guise of a cosmetics trader for a long time,” the release said.
After filing a case in this connection against the arrested person, the elite force handed him over to Syedpur police on Tuesday night.
