ThakurgaonThe dead body of a Bangladeshi youth shot by Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) at Thakurgaon border has been returned to the country.
The development came after a flag meeting between the company commanders of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and BSF on Sunday (Oct 21).
Thakurgaon BGB 50 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Colonel Tuhin Md Masud and BSF Commandant Rakesh Sinha led the flag meeting where Tuhin protested the firing on un-armed Bangladeshi nationals.
The BSF commandant claimed that the Bangladeshi nationals had attacked them but Col Tuhin questioned the statement saying that it was not possible for un-armed cattle traders to attack trained armed forces.
On Saturday (Oct 20), 25-year old Md Rabbani was shot dead by the BSF members in Thakurgaon.
According to locals, BSF members of Hatkhola camp opened fire at a group of 7 or 8 cattle traders when they crossed into India. Rabbani, one of the traders, died after being shot while others managed to escape.
As per the agreement of the flag meeting, Baliadangi police received Rabbani’s body and handed it over to his family on Sunday at 9 pm.
