Three people have been killed and two others injured in a road accident on Chandpur-Cumilla highways in the district’s Hajiganj Upazila, police said.
The incident was reported from the Upazila’s Bakilar Gogra area on Monday early.
Hajiganj police SI Zaynal, “A covered van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, carrying passengers, in the area at 3:30am, killing three people on the spot and injuring three others.”
The deceased are Elem Hossain, 45, his son Ekram Hossain, 27 and Abu Sufian, 36. All hailed from the district’s Sharasti Upazila.
The injured were admitted to the state-owned hospital in the district town.
Foggy weather might cause the accident, said Fardi Ahmed, deputy inspector of the district fire service.
