The deceased, 28-year-old bus Avi Alam Akash, was one of the drivers of the bus.
At least 15 people have been taken to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura from the scene.
According to the police and locals, two buses—Rangpur-bound ‘Ena Paribahan’ and Dhaka-bound ‘Ma Moni Paribahan’— crashed into each other around 3:50 am at the district’s Sherpur Upazila.
“The driver of Ena Paribahan died on impact,” said Kajal Nandi, Sub-Inspector of Bogura Highway Police.
“The injured were rescued by fire-service and the accident caused traffic to be suspended for 30 minutes on the highway,” he added.
The vehicles have been seized and a case will be started with Sherpur police station, said the highway police officer.
