The hearing for BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s bail in the Cumilla bus arson case has been deferred.
On Thursday, Cumilla Senior Judicial Magistrate Golam Mahbub Khani fixed Sep 30 for the hearing.
“We do not know why this is happening. We presented all the necessary documents and they had no legal grounds to set a new date,” defence counsel Qaimul Hoque Rinku said.
The BNP chief has been accused of ordering the firebombing of a bus in Cumilla during a countrywide blockade of roads, railway and waterways in 2015.
The attack left eight people dead and another 22 injured.
Police have pressed charges against the former prime minister and 69 others.
