Habiganj Cartridge Paper Crisis.Habiganj is seeing a crisis of cartridge papers, which is hampering the normal flow of court work. The district lawyers’ association allege that an artificial crisis has been created. The available papers are being sold at ten times the price.
According to sources, the papers are regularly bought by the district treasury branch through vendors, which is later supplied to the judges. The government fixed rate is between Tk 3 and Tk 5, but in the last one year, the paper was sold between Tk 50 and Tk 60.
Since June last, the price has gone up to Tk 80.
Habiganj Cartridge Paper Crisis.Locals say that in this crisis, the paper can only be bought by paying exorbitant rates.
People have said this would not have happened if administration monitored the price.
Meanwhile, Habiganj district administrator, Mahmudul Kabir Murad, says: “we have bought 100 rims of cartridge paper by informing the superiors and this has already been distributed among dealers.”
We will take action against profiteers who want to make quick money by artificial hiking of price, he added.
