An alleged drug peddler was killed in Rajshahi during ‘shootout’, said RAB. The victim is identified as Dulal Mia, 45.

The incident was reported from the district’s Mohonpur Upazila in the wee hours of Monday.

“A group of around 10 people tried to flee noticing RAB officials, who were patrolling the upazila’s Pakuria area. When RAB officials challenged the group, they opened fire which triggered the shootout.

Later, Dulal Mia’s bullet ridden body was recovered from the spot while his associates managed to flee from the scene, said deputy commander of RAB-5, Major Ashraful Islam.

“Dulal was rushed to Mohonpur Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead,” added the elite force official.

506 pills of contraband, yaba, a pistol and a magazine have been seized from the scene.

“The body will be kept at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, added the RAB officer.
