Two people have been killed in two separate incidents in Satkhira’ Tala Upazila.
The first incident was reported from Upazila’s Nagarghata village on Monday and the other from same upazila’s Jhargacha village, said police.
According to locals, Mumtaz Begum of Nagarghata union died on Monday (Sep 10) at 8 pm after she sustained a head injury.
The deceased’s daughter, Tumpa Khatun, hit her mother on the head with a rod during a family argument. Mumtaz lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital where she died.
In the other incident, police recovered the body of Gopal Ghosh from a ditch near his home in Jhargacha village on Monday.
Quoting his family, the police said that Gopal left the house to take a look at the paddy fields on Sunday (Sep 9) but never returned.
According to the police, his body shows signs of assault and they suspect that he was asphyxiated.
Assistant Superintendent of Tala Circle Police, Apu Sarwar said, “We are inspecting both the crime scenes. We cannot say anything before we receive the autopsy report.”
