Five ‘JMB militants’ held in Bogura.Police in Bogura have detained five suspected activists of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
The arrests were made during a raid at district’s Sherpur Upazila in the wee hours of Tuesday, said police.
The arrestees are Shahidullah, who also goes by the aliases Masum, Yeamin and Gopal, Bulbul alias Shohag, Atikur Rahman alias Saikat alias Shamit, Mizanur Rahman alias Dorji Mizan and Masud Rana.
“Acting on a tip-off, the Detective Branch unit of Bogura and the police headquarters’ intelligence wing conducted a joint raid at Upazila’s Mirzapur-Ranirhat Road and detained five operatives of JMB,” said Bogura Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakrabarti.
Two pistols, ammunition, three machetes and a handcuff were seized during the raid, he added.
“Details will be provided at a media briefing later on Wednesday,” Sanatan Chacrabarti added.
