The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Feni says a suspected drug dealer was killed in what the elite police unit has described as a shootout.

Feni-based RAB 7 chief Shafayet Jamil said the victim has been identified as 35-year-old Kabir Hossain.

Early morning on Wednesday, a RAB team conducted a raid at the district town’s Lemua on a tip-off, he told Bangla Tribune.

“Sensing our team’s presence, the drug dealers opened fire, when a shootout erupted. Drug dealer Kabir was found dead at the scene later. The others managed to flee,” said senior RAB officer Jamil.

RAB seized 80 contraband yaba tablets, a firearm and seven rounds of ammunition at the scene.

The death in the ‘shootout’ in the southeastern district town has been reported hours after another similar incident at the town’s Sultanpur area late on Tuesday, when suspected drug peddler Sumon Prakash Lal was killed.
