Ruling Awamil League is dispatching its general secretary to resolve internal feud within Sylhet AL.
He is coming to Sylhet on 29 August Thursday to settle party conflict within Sylhet AL, which many believe led to the loss in the recent city corporation elections.
AL central leaders feel that the party lost in Sylhet City Corporation election held on Jul 30 due to internal feud, division and envy.
To infuse new impetus into the Sylhet district AL, the current committee may be dissolved.
On 22 Nov, 2011, the 71 member AL committee in Sylhet was given approval. At that time, Abdur Zahir Chowdhury, was made president and Shafiqur Rahman, general secretary. After Abdur Zahir died in 2015, advocate Lutfur Rahman became acting president.
At that time, Badruddin Ahmed Kamran and Asad Uddin Ahmed were made city president and general secretary respectively.
There is stagnation in Sylhet since organisational activities are being carried out with one committee.
It’s believed that Obaidul Qauder may give some directives to leaders after a party organised mourning rally in Sylhet.
