Samples collected from six infected children were sent to Dhaka for laboratory tests and the results showed that they were attacked with measles.
Civil Surgeon of Chittagong Dr Aziziur Rahman Siddiqui has confirmed it to Bangla Tribune.
Earlier, the death of four children at Tripura community in Hathazari upazila creates panic among the locals as the reason of deaths was unidentified.
“We collected six samples from the sick children and sent to Dhaka for lab test. It has been confirmed that they are suffering from measles,” Dr Rahman added.Meanwhile, a four-member team from the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) visited the spot and collected blood samples from the children.
The civil surgeon said, “The ICDDR,B team came to find the reason behind death of four children at district’s Hathazari upazila.”
It got the notice when a child died on Sunday. It sent a health officer there who found out that between Aug 21 and Aug 26, four children met the similar fate. He identified 22 infected children in Tripura community and admitted them with hospitals.
Out of them, three are in critical condition while others are improving.
