Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)BNP is likely to put forward a proposal on forming a non-partisan government during election period.
If everything goes right, the party would reveal it in September, say it leaders.
BNP Standing Committee member Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar told Bangla Tribune, “Before proposing the idea of the supportive government system, few things need to be taken care of. We need to discuss it with like-minded parties.”
We will have to take their opinions and these will be reviewed in the standing committee, he said.
Several BNP leaders say, they want to bring pro-government and non pro-government political parties under one platform.
BNP wants to have a consensus on political unity at national level before putting forward the poll-time government proposal, they said.
A special team headed by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and comprised of other party leaders and intellectuals is working towards that goal.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has instructed to complete the task as soon as possible, said insiders.
It is mentionable that in 2016 Khaleda Zia first publicly spoke about offering a framework of a supportive government.
BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu told Bangla Tribune, “It is more important to have dialogue with the government than to formulate the supportive govt.”
Before proposing the idea, we have to resolve the dispute of political unity with other parties, he said.
He indicated, “If everything is okay, then we will have a concrete framework of the government by September.”
