BNP conducting ‘post-mortem’ on Dec 30 polls

BNP, the leading component of opposition alliance Jatiya Oikya Front, has started collecting details on the Dec 30 election, which the party said a ‘post-mortem on voting’ at all constituencies.
“Post-mortem on voting has started. But, to finish works at 300 parliamentary seats will take time,” said Oikya Front’s Steering Committee member Subrata Chowdhury.
The party is carrying out its operation under the banner of Bangladesh Voting Rights Movement, which will later reveal the findings.
BNP’s candidates for the 11th parliamentary election has started working with some already have finished it.
Zahir Uddin Sawpan, who contested the polls from Barishal-1, has completed the ‘post-mortem’ on voting at his constituency.
“To my knowledge, many other candidates have also finished their works and gradually all constituencies will be covered,” Sawpan told Bangla Tribune.
Bangla Tribune has obtained a copy of the ‘post-mortem’ report. It shows the party has collected almost everything on votes.
The report includes different figures on numbers of total votes, casting votes, and canalled votes. It also includes voting figures bagged by the candidates of BNP and Oikya Front as well as Awami League and others.
It also identifies the number of voting stations where BNP and Oikya Front secured maximum and minimum votes in addition to the number of polling centres where they also got less than 100 votes.
BNP also figured out how many of its aspirants lost their security deposits while how many of AL’s candidates bagged over 80 percent of votes, shows the ‘post-mortem’ report.
BNP-led Oikya Front managed to win in just eight seats as its arch-rival AL-led Grand Alliance secures a landslide victory winning 288 constituencies in the 300-seat parliament.
