Incarcerated BNP chief Khaleda Zia is extremely ill, party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said after meeting her at the prison.
“The jail authorities have not complied with the prescription and advice given by doctors at the PG Hospital (Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University),” he told the media on Monday in front of the old Dhaka Central Jail.
Flanked by National Standing Committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Jamir Uddin Sircar, Moudud Ahmed and Mirza Abbas, the senior BNP leader entered the jailhouse on Nazimuddin Road around 2:30pm.
The visit comes a day after the BNP announced that they will take part in the upcoming 11th Parliamentary Election.
Mirza Fakhrul, however, claimed that the discussion did not include the election. “Madam (Khaleda) has instructed to march forward with the alliance of the people that have been forged.”
