After Awami League President Sheikh Hasina comes back from her overseas trip, a decision on the framework of the alliance will be taken, says General Secretary Obaidul Qauder.
The minister made the comments on Thursday (Oct 18) after laying flowers on the grave of Sheikh Russell on his birth anniversary.
Many have expressed their desire to join us but we haven’t taken any decision as yet, he said.
“After the prime minister returns, we shall take decision on this matter.”
The veteran AL politician also said that Bikalpadhara, Jukto Front or LDP did not show any desire to join AL’s alliance.
But Zaker Party has met us, he confirmed.
A leftist pact of seven parties have applied, and Islami Front is interested, he added.
“Many alliances are being formed, broken, where the polarisation will stand in the end depends on the electoral dynamics.”
The masses are with us and BNP cannot create a situation like 2001, he said emphatically.
After laying a wreath at the graveyard of Sheikh Russell, who was brutally killed as a child on August 15, 1975 with Bangabandhu and other family members, Obaidul Qauder said, “The pledge on the birthday of Sheikh Russell is to end politics of murder, mayhem and terrorism in Bangladesh.”
