The incident was reported around 9pm on Friday near the Residential Model College in the capital, said police.
“The minister was on his way back from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases Hospital after visiting a patient. A bus operated by 'New Vision Paribahan' hit his vehicle from behind,” said Sub-Inspector Yadul Huq of the local Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police.

“The driver and helper have been arrested, he said.
The driver 22-year-old Imbrahim Khalil Emon had no drivers' license on him, added Sub-Inspector Huq.
The minister, however, was unharmed, Tejgaon police Deputy Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker told Bangla Tribune.

The incident happens just after more than a week-long protest by students demanding safer roads after a public transport bus ploughed into a group of school students on Jul 29, when two teenagers were killed on the spot and several others were injured.
