A court in Dhaka has denied bail to 22 private university students arrested on charges of violence and attack on police.
Police produced them before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday following a two-day remand.
Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder turned down defence’s plea for bail and ordered the students to be sent to prison.
The students of East West University, North South University, Southeast University and BRAC University were detained on Tuesday (Aug 7), when clashes broke out between students at Dhaka’s Bashundhara and Rampura.
They were formally arrested in two cases started by the Badda and Bhatara police stations the same day and produced in court when they were remanded for two days.
